The Accidental Polymath

Pete is a designer, product-innovator, author, strategist, applied data specialist, technologist, suicide prevention campaigner… dad, husband, friend and son. He talks all over the world on creative and social technologies, data, Ai and the physiological and psychological effects on their audiences.

In 2017, his bestselling, book “Human-Focused Digital” took a philosophical look at technology and design, challenging us to look inwardly at the self when designing future technologies.

True to form, in 2023 he zigged when many would zag, and published his second book, ‘Calling All The Dreamers‘. The remarkable true story about a Britpop band called Electrasy who went crashing through the record industry, but were ultimately halted by technology and the shifting human-behaviour.

Over the last decade, Pete has helped contribute to the narrative that technology can be for good, and change the world positively.

He regularly appears in UK national and international press as an analyst on emergent technologies, and tech markets.

Pete is the former chair of the Ai Think Tank for BIMA (The British Interactive Media Association). In 2017 he was voted as one of the 5 most influential people in the British digital industry in Econsultancys 2017 report.

He has a very simple philosophy: Don’t do things better, do better things™.

My Journey

Confidence to do what I do comes from a very raw place.

“A lot of people assume people like me stand up and talk, and it comes from a place of confidence and talent. But that’s simply not true. It’s taken me many many years to find my voice, make mistakes, and build up to the place where I am today.”

“There are some public speakers who bring a lot of bravado and theatrics. But I try to avoid gimmicks and keep it honest, authentic, and tell stories and show content that connects with the audience.”

Pete Trainor, 2018

Better Things

We’ve got to use the gifts that we have to drop the ladder. Over the years I’ve come to realise that this world is just a place for us to learn that we need each other more than we want to admit. Which is why I give as much time as I can to better things.
